18.06.202621:00:00UTC+00South Korea’s Producer Price Growth Cools Sharply to 0.8% in May

South Korea’s producer price inflation slowed markedly in May 2026, signaling a sharp easing in upstream price pressures. The Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 0.8% month-over-month, down from a 2.7% increase recorded in April 2026, according to data updated on 18 June 2026.

The figures, measured on a month-over-month basis, show that while producer prices continued to climb, the pace of gains decelerated substantially compared with the previous month’s surge. In April, the PPI comparison reflected price changes versus March, whereas May’s reading captures the shift from April levels.

The moderation in PPI may ease some cost pressures for South Korean manufacturers and could eventually feed through to consumer prices, offering policymakers and markets an early indication of cooling inflationary momentum along the supply chain.
