Australian shares rose 46 points, or 0.5%, to 9,148 in Tuesday’s morning trade, extending the prior session’s gains and reaching their highest level in more than a week. The advance was driven by strength in technology, manufacturing, energy minerals, and non-energy minerals, while softness in healthcare and industrial services limited further upside.

Investors focused on upcoming global and domestic catalysts. Internationally, markets looked ahead to Fed Chair Warsh’s speech at Jackson Hole later this week, a key U.S. inflation release, and earnings from Nvidia. Domestically, attention turned to the Reserve Bank’s latest meeting minutes due later today, as well as July’s inflation data, following June’s reading, which remained above the central bank’s target range.

In the U.S., equity futures were muted after the Trump administration outlined plans to further isolate Iran’s economy by threatening secondary sanctions on its “enablers.” Among local heavyweights, BHP climbed 1.5%, while Woodside Energy gained 2.1%, Wisetech Global advanced 1.5%, and Computershare added 1.0%. The four major banks posted modest increases.
