In September 2025, Uruguay experienced a 5.2% decline in manufacturing output compared to the previous year, following a 6.3% decrease in August. The petroleum refining sector faced a dramatic drop of 98.9%, largely due to ANCAP's refinery being offline throughout the month for repairs on the José Ignacio oil buoy. Notable declines were also observed in the manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers, which fell by 54.9%, and the production of paper and paper products, which decreased by 6.2%. On the brighter side, the pharmaceutical sector showed a robust growth of 22.7%. Additionally, there was an increase in beverage production by 16.6% and a significant rise in the manufacturing of electrical equipment by 34.1%. In terms of labor metrics, the Index of Hours Worked saw a slight increase of 0.5%, whereas the Index of Employed Personnel decreased by 1.7%.
